Mrs. Doreen Muhumure is a Partner at the law firm and has been practicing in Rwanda since 2015. She is an Arbitrator, and a qualified Draftsperson with 7 years of legal practice and drafting with multinational corporations as well as the public/private sector in Rwanda and the rest of the East African region. As a drafts person, Doreen has previously worked as a legal drafting officer for Rwanda Utilities Regulatory Authority (RURA) where she drafted different legal instruments including laws, Policies regulations and guidelines for different sectors in the Rwandan economy. She has also negotiated and drafted several contracts in the private and public sectors of Rwanda and East Africa as well as conducted regulatory due diligence on corporate & financial related matters in preparation for client transactions. Doreen is also a legal advisor and company secretary for a number of private companies in Rwanda and Uganda.
Her operational scope includes but is not limited to Legislative Drafting, Nuclear Law, Commercial Litigation, Economic and financial law, Employment law, Land and Environmental law, Property Leasing, Investment law, Arbitration and public policy, Energy & Environmental Law, Corporate Governance among others.
She holds a master’s degree in International Business Law from the University of Rwanda, a Diploma in Legal Practice (ILPD, Rwanda) and a Bachelors’ degree in Law from Makerere University, Uganda. She has 7 years of experience in legal drafting and commercial law in Rwanda and across the East African region.
She is a Member of the Charted Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb London) and member of Domestic Panel of Arbitrators for Kigali International Arbitration Center (KIAC). She is also the Honorary secretary of the Charted Institute of Arbitrators, Rwanda chapter (CIArb Rwanda).
